Surface Ice and Cold Water Rescue

Indiana District 1 Fire Training and the MAAC will be putting on a one-day Surface Ice and Cold Water Rescue class. 4 Hour classroom session will cover what constitutes cold water, mammalian diver reflex and the effect on potential patients, hypothermia, ice safety, factors that affect ice condtions, response zoning, and equipment needs. 4 hour skill session will focus on hands-on with surface ice rescue suits, preach and reach scaenarios, throw bag responses, apparatus repsonses inclduing inflatables, sleds, MARS, and rope rescue techniques. This class will be held regardless of weather conditions. Students should expect to make entry into the water with approporiate PPE. If you have your own equipment please bring it, if not we will have suits for everyone to use.
